I don`t know why Sakura stayed behind, though, or why none of the girl ninjas came along for that matter. They made Choji, fat kid who turns into a balloon tank, cool in this arc. Characters who didn`t get to shine before finally do here. Every single fight in this arc is extremely cool.

The series had already turned into full ninja magic time by this point, but it didn`t matter because the pacing was great, the new characters being introduced were all sufficiently creepy and intimidating, the stakes were high as we didn`t know if Sasuke would truly turn to the dark side or not (and he did). Orochimaru is a truly frightening villain in this arc (he rips off people`s faces and wears them) and his obsession with Sasuke seems like a bid for power rather than the main character fellatio it became later on in the series.ģ. The way the different ninja kids play off of each other, both in terms of characterization and abilities, is extremely well done and there`s even added caveats like a group that`s a year ahead of everyone else and stronger and cooler than everyone else. The more down to earth, grittier ninja feeling is still present in this arc and we get introduced to other ninja teams with their own dynamics and abilities.

If another anime came along with a first arc of this quality you can bet it would soar in popularity just like Naruto did.Ģ. I think everyone agrees that this arc is the best. Think about Kakashi as the copy ninja with hundreds of different jutsu, the extra focus on hand seals, the more brutal and gritty atmosphere, the bingo book and missing nin being hyped up like crazy, Naruto and Sasuke working together as rivals and friends, Naruto`s nine-tails being something truly fearsome. It`s amazing how this almost feels like a completely different series to the one it eventually turned into. So yeah, it's kinda telling that with this series, it's opening arc is one of the best while its final arc is one of the worst. The fights have no weight to them, goes on way longer than it had any right to, insane plot twists, (just who IS the final villain again?) Naruto vs. The War arc (okay technically, it's divided into three: War, Ten Tails, Final but as far as I'm concerned it's one big arc) - Just dreadful. It would take the worst spot with ease if not for.ġ2. Kage Summit arc - Terrible arc, all the character regress to their absolute worst and absolutely disgraceful character assassinations are had. The only reason it's not ranked lower is because Jiraya's arc is the saving grace.ġ1. Hunt for Itachi arc - Sasuke is pretty much unbearable in this arc and the fight against Itachi is not very good. Sasuke and Sai arc - a very mediocre arc that sees nothing accomplished.ġ0. Hiden and Kakazu arc -a nice day in the limelight for Shikamaruĩ. Rescue Gaara arc - A serviceable introduction to Part 2Ĩ. Naruto's birth - Finding out Naruto's birth was nice, but sadly was the last bit of quality this series would reach.ħ. Pain Invasion - the climax of Part 2 everything was exciting at this pointĦ. Seach for Tsunade arc - A small arc that focuses on characterization which is nice.ĥ. Rescue Sasuke arc - Everything reaches the emotional climax and sets up Part 2 well.Ĥ. Chunin Exams arc - Exciting and action packed.ģ. Land of Waves arc - simply a great introduction arc and one of the best Shonen arcs ever.Ģ. How would you rank all the arcs of Naruto from beginning to end? For me, it would go something like this: (From best to worst)ġ.
